Yesterday, we had the absolute pleasure of welcoming six Year 8 students from The King’s CofE Academy into the Web Goddess office as part of their Future Ready Framework Work Experience project.

The visit was all about giving students a real look at what happens inside a creative digital business.

During the morning, the students learnt about web design, branding and key messaging before working in pairs to create their own homepage for a business. They then presented their ideas back to the group, showing brilliant creativity, confidence and teamwork.

It was especially important to us that the students saw women leading a business in the digital and creative industries. Web design, branding and technology are all areas where confidence matters, and visits like this help students see that these careers are open to them too.

It's so easy to give young people a bad rap and never offer support, but as Holly says:

“If we expect students to be prepared for work, we need to prepare them.”

That is exactly why we say yes to opportunities like this. Work experience should be meaningful, practical and confidence-building.

Miss Harnet said:

"Thank you again to Web Goddess Ltd for giving our students such a valuable and memorable morning."

A huge thank you to Miss Harnett and Mr Purle, and the Stoke and Staffordshire Careers Hub for making this visit happen. It was a joy to have the students with us, and we hope they left feeling inspired, capable and full of ideas.

We certainly did.
