If you have a website (or are thinking of getting one), you’ve probably heard about content management systems (CMS) – and if you’ve spoken to the Web Goddess team in the past few months you will have definitely heard about it because we’re obsessed!
But what does it do? And more importantly, why should you care?
Well, if you’re using Wix, then let’s see if we can convince you how Wix CMS will change the way you manage your website forever.
What Is Wix CMS?
Wix CMS is Wix’s built-in content management system, allowing you to create, store, and manage content dynamically. Instead of manually creating and editing each page on your site, you can use a CMS collection (aka a database) to store your content and display it dynamically across multiple pages.
In simple terms: If you have a lot of similar content—like blog posts, product listings, testimonials, or portfolio pieces—you can set up a database and let Wix do the hard work of generating pages for you. It’s a practical way of organising your data into a useful format for visitors to access and for you to manage too.
Why Use Wix CMS?
If you’re wondering why Wix CMS could be right for you instead of just adding static pages manually, here are the advantages:
Save Time – Instead of creating new pages one by one, you set up a template, and Wix automatically generates pages for you. More time for coffee!
Stay Organised – Your content is stored in one place, making it easy to update and manage.
Scalability – If you’re growing your website with new services, products, or posts, Wix CMS makes it easy to expand without a headache.
Consistency – Dynamic pages ensure your site stays uniform, so everything looks polished and professional. Making a change to the dynamic template automatically changes ALL items in the collection.
SEO Friendly – Each dynamic page gets its own unique URL, making it easier for search engines (like Google) to index your content.
How to Implement Wix CMS on Your Site
If you’re new to Wix CMS, don’t worry - it’s easier than it sounds. Here’s a step-by-step guide to get you started.
Step 1: Create a CMS Collection
Think of this as your website’s database.
Go to Wix Dashboard and click CMS in the vertical menu on the left of the screen.
Click the Create Collection button and choose how you are going to create your collection. You can import from a file, use AI to help or start from scratch.
Give it a name (e.g., ‘Team’ or ‘Case Studies’) and choose the default ‘Multiple’ option before clicking the Create button.
Define your fields—these are the types of content you’ll be storing, like titles, images, descriptions, and dates.
Fill your collection with content.

Top Tip: it’s worth planning out the fields you wish to include before starting to build the CMS as it’s easier to do this first.
Step 2: Create a Dynamic Page
Once your CMS collection is set up, it’s time to display the content on your website.
Go to Pages & Menu and select Add Page.
Choose Dynamic Page and link it to your CMS Collection.
Design the page using Wix’s drag-and-drop editor. This template will automatically pull in content from your database.
Add elements like text, images, and buttons, linking them to the corresponding fields in your CMS Collection.
Step 3: Create a Dynamic List Page
If you want a page that lists all your dynamic content (e.g., a blog summary or portfolio overview), you can set up a Dynamic List Page:
Add a Repeater or Table to your page.
Link it to your CMS Collection.
Style it so it looks great!
Add a button or link to each item so users can click through to the individual dynamic pages.
Real-World Examples: How Web Goddess Uses Wix CMS
At Web Goddess, we’ve implemented Wix CMS for both our own website and our clients’ sites to make content management smoother and more efficient. Here are a few examples:
Our Resources – We weren’t too keen on the limitations of the built in Wix blog so we use a CMS Collection for our resource articles (like this one), making it easy to add new posts while keeping everything neatly organised and searchable. We also attached a secondary collection for our authors so we don’t have to repeatedly add their information to each post.
Client Portfolios – For our own website portfolio and our clients in creative industries, we’ve built CMS collections that automatically generate new project & case study pages. Check out Hope Creative’s Portfolio as a client example.
Supplier Lists – Instead of creating individual pages for all recommended suppliers, we created a CMS Collection for our client The Lanzarote Celebrant to show and filter all suppliers in a consistent way. A client in the events space needed an easy way to manage event listings, so we set up a CMS system where they simply add new events to the database, and Wix takes care of the rest.

Meet the Team – Listing your team in a consistent way without having to manually create individual pages is the perfect use of the Wix CMS. We did exactly this for Virtual Diamond’s team and they can easily add and remove staff as required.
Properties for Sale – a client came to us with an existing Wix CMS that they were using to display properties for sale, but it wasn’t working optimally. We helped Sage Residential simplify their database and link to Rightmove for more details. Properties are displayed in price order by default and can be filtered by ‘For Sale’ and ‘Under Offer’.
Actor Credits – we used Wix CMS to create a database for actor Georgia Burnell that displays her past acting credits and can be filtered by the type of work such as TV or film.

The Power of Dynamic Pages
Dynamic pages allow you to create one design and use it for multiple pieces of content. Imagine you’ve got lots of past projects you’d love to share with visitors. Instead of designing separate pages for each project, you create one dynamic project page template linked to your CMS Collection. Every time you add a new project to your database, Wix automatically generates a page for it.
The benefits of dynamic pages include:
Less manual work – No need to copy and paste content into new pages.
Easy updates – Update one entry in the CMS, and it updates everywhere.
Faster load times – Since Wix optimises dynamic content, your site runs more smoothly.
Better user experience – Everything stays neat, professional, and structured.
So Is Wix CMS Right for You?
If you want to save time, stay organised, and scale your website efficiently, Wix CMS is a no-brainer. Whether you’re running a blog, a portfolio, or a business directory, the Content Manager in Wix makes your life easier.
