Website DesignLet's build a site you love
I specialise in getting small businesses and solopreneurs online.
All too often website ‘newbies’ are convinced by well-meaning friends and family that they need all-singing, all-dancing websites, when in fact they can have something that looks great and does a fantastic job for less hassle and less cost.
So, whether you just want a web presence so that people can find you or a more bespoke solution, I help you create a website that YOU manage once it’s built – that’s my passion & how I like to work with my clients.
Here’s how it works:
Step 1 - Let's Talk!
We’ll discuss ideas for your website & I’ll recommend the best solution for your business with room to grow as you need it.
Step 2 - Costings
Once I know what you need I’ll give you a firm quote on how much the site will cost you. If you accept we’ll move on to the design stage.
Step 3 - Design
I’ll work with you to design your site and create something that you are proud to own. You’ll also learn how to update it yourself.
Step 4 - Launch
Your site is launched and handed over for you to manage and update. But don’t worry, I’m on hand if you really need me.
After your site is live you can then manage it yourself, but I’m always available for any queries you have and can help you with changes if you need them via my Digital Mentoring service.
Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some answers to questions I get asked a lot…
Do you use WordPress for my site?
The platform I use for your website completely depends on what you need your website to do for your business!
I recommend Create and SquareSpace for businesses that want great looking sites that are super-easy to maintain. I can set up a WordPress site but the cost will be significantly higher and the end product will require more knowledge to maintain yourself.
How much it will cost me to set up?
We’ll need to chat before I can give you a firm quote & the more details you can give me about your requirements the better I will be able to advise you on the best way I can help you. As a rough estimate, a simple ‘brochure’ style site with 5 pages starts at £400. This cost includes hosting, domain, and training to manage it yourself, but does not include a shop feature.
Ongoing annual costs for hosting and domain are then lower, starting around £80, as long as you manage the site yourself.
Do I already need to have a domain name?
No. You can use an existing domain name if you already own one, but one can be purchased for you if you don’t. I recommend having both your domain and hosting with the same company just to make life simple, but this is not a requirement.
What is SEO and do I have to pay extra for it?
SEO (search engine optimisation) is included in your website design. It involves making your site visible and relevant to search engines. There are lots of companies that cold call or email website owners offering this service for hundreds of pounds but you do not need to pay extra for this.
What support do you provide once my site is live?
Once your site has been published it is your responsibility to maintain it and make changes when required. However, I do have a monthly email that I send out with tips and my Blog also has articles that may be helpful for keeping your site up to date.
If you ever get really stuck and need me to do any future work or teach you about social media or anything else digital, my standard rate is £40 per hour for Digital Mentoring or less when booked in a block of 4 or 8 hours.
