Here are the answers to your questions before you ask them…

What makes Web Goddess different?
The biggest difference is that I design your site using an online platform or hosting and you have complete ownership of the site and domain name from day one.  Once your website is set up for you (and even during the design process), you can login and make changes at no extra cost.  After the site goes live I hand you the reins and you can decide whether or not to allow me to have any further access with my management package.

Do you use WordPress for my site?
No. I love WordPress, but it’s not what I use to build sites for my clients because I want to keep it simple and keep costs down. I use a company called Create.net based in Brighton, UK and if you want to have a go at building a site for yourself you can head straight over there and give it a go. My job to do this for you if you really don’t know where to start or don’t want the hassle.

Do I need to know about coding to update my site?
No. All text and images are inserted into your website using a visual interface that shows you how it will look as soon as you enter the information.  A good analogy is using Microsoft Word to create a document, so if you can use Word, you will be able to update your website.

How do I know how much it will cost me to set up?
Contact me for a no-obligation quote.  The more details you can give me about your requirements the better I will be able to advise you on the best way I can help you. Up-to-date estimates are given on my Design and Management pages so you have an idea how much your site will cost.

Can you help me learn to maintain my website?
Yes.  Every package comes with an eBook explaining how to update each part of your website step-by-step.  You can also ask for help over the phone or via email with a specific issue if you have signed up for my management package. All of my clients also receive a monthly newsletter full of useful tips and ways they can get the most out of their websites.

Who do I pay for my website?
You pay all initial fees to WebGoddess. Once your site is launched, ongoing annual costs for hosting and bi-annual costs for domain names are paid directly to Create.net. You will receive an email reminder of this in good time for payment. The amount you pay will depend on which package level you are on at the time (and you can change this at any time depending on your needs).

Do I need to have a domain name already?
No. You can use an existing domain name if you already own one, but this can be done during your website design. If you need any advice about Domain Name providers, then please contact me as some (like UK2) look cheap but then won’t allow external hosting without a lot of hassle! I recommend having both your domain and hosting with the same company, but this is not a requirement.

Do I need to live in Staffordshire?
No. Although  many of my clients are local businesses based in Staffordshire and Derbyshire, as your website is designed online I am able to design a site for you anywhere in the UK or even overseas.  I currently have clients in Suffolk and Australia as well as based locally.

What is SEO and do I have to pay extra for it?
SEO is ‘search engine optimisation’ and it is included in your Web Goddess website package (whichever you choose).  It really just involves making your site and your site’s individual pages visible and relevant to both search engines and search engine users. There are lots and lots of companies that cold call website owners offering this service for hundreds of pounds (I get at least one a week) but you do not need to pay extra for this. Of course, there are always improvements to be made but making sure that keywords are located in the text of your pages and that these relate to your target audience is a great start.

How do I know who is looking at my website?
Your website will be set up with Google Analytics so that you can keep an eye on where your visitors are coming from and if your traffic is increasing.
